Birgit Huber Willand is Of Counsel in Selman Breitman’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the firm’s Insurance and Appellate practice groups. Birgit represents domestic and foreign insurers in a wide-ranging array of first and third party insurance coverage disputes concerning various liability issues, including coverage for residential, commercial, and industrial construction defects, catastrophic construction failures, natural disasters, hospitality industry liability, business interruption claims, CERCLA environmental actions, post-loss reconstruction under the auspices of California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, and a wide variety of business disputes, with an emphasis on complex and high tech business disputes. She also engages in numerous practice areas of service to the insurance industry, including insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, pre-litigation coverage analysis, agents and brokers professional liability defense, reinsurance disputes, and insurance liquidation matters.

Decades of experience in Insurance Coverage enables Birgit to identify and evaluate complex coverage issues. She is particularly skilled at resolving matters expeditiously through the timely filing of Motions for Summary Judgment. Her experience in these matters allows her clients to receive definitive judicial resolution without the delay and expense of trial. Birgit is often called upon to defend her successful motions on appeal. She is also a licensed Property/Casualty Broker in California.

Birgit was born and raised in Los Angeles and presently resides in the San Fernando Valley with her husband and twin daughters. When not helping clients with their legal needs she spends her time traveling, scrapbooking, and cheering on her daughters' club soccer team.
