Rebekah R. Shapiro is a Senior Associate in Selman Breitman’s San Francisco office and is a member of the firm’s Insurance practice group.  Rebekah represents insurance companies in many different types of coverage inquiries and disputes, including cases arising out of denial of claims, bad faith litigation, policy limits demands, and policy interpretation.  Rebekah’s clients include regional, national, and international insurance companies. She also has experience in representing insurance companies in disputes that involve complex claims histories and has advised clients with respect to their rights and obligations under commercial general liability, property, professional liability, and pollution policies.

Rebekah’s extensive experience in Insurance provides her a unique ability to investigate and evaluate facts and coordinate multiple stakeholders to reach efficient resolutions favorable to her clients.  She works closely with Claim Reps and other stakeholders to develop creative solutions to coverage disputes. She enjoys working in teams committed  to serving her client’s interests. 

Rebekah is called upon by clients and law firms and secondary schools to give presentations on various subject matters relating to recent developments in insurance law, constitutional law, and the formation of for-profit and non-profit organizations, including those specifically relating to commercial general liability insurance coverage for sexual battery and construction defects.  She has also been recognized as a leader in pro bono work among law students, receiving a certificate of completion for the Mortimer Caplin Public Service Center's Pro Bono Challenge, along with many other accolades.

Rebekah is originally from Portland, Oregon and presently resides in Redwood City, California.  When not helping clients with their legal needs, she spends her time volunteering for organizations that help those with mental illness and their friends and family.
