Neil Selman to Speak at 2018 CLM Annual Conference
Neil Selman will be a presenter at the 2018 CLM Annual Conference in Houston March 14-16. Neil, along with Melissa Hoffman-Schartel (Markel Service, Incorporated), Nelson Tavares (W.R. Berkley Corporation), and Rhonda Tobin (Robinson & Cole), will present a session entitled, “Policy Limit Demands: The New Plaintiff's Strategy and How to Protect Insurers and Defense Counsel.”
Plaintiffs have recently adopted a strategy of issuing policy limit demands as soon (and as often) as possible, in an attempt to increase the value of the claim. The speakers will discuss how to avoid this claim inflation, and will discuss a number of strategies that can help protect the insurer and defense counsel in this increasingly common situation.
For more than 40 years, Neil Selman has been a recognized leader in the field of Insurance Law. He is a founding partner of Selman Breitman LLP, chairs the firm's extensive Insurance practice group, and is an author and editor of both the 2016 and 2017 LexisNexis Matthew Bender Practice Guide: California Insurance Litigation.
