The lawyers of Selman Breitman have the knowledge, expertise and experience to offer "full service" representation in the broad spectrum of real estate and land use matters. With offices throughout California and Nevada, the firm is able to lead a project from land acquisition through the entitlement process to the negotiation of construction contracts and ultimately the sale or leasing of the finished product. In the event that litigation should arise, the firm is comprised of experienced litigators ready and able to protect the interests of our clients in court.

Our attorneys have successfully represented clients in matters including: zoning, planning and land use entitlements; development agreements; California Coastal Act permitting; California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); storm water and development run-off issues; writ of mandate, and Civil Rights (42 U.S.C. section 1983) land use litigation.

Selman Breitman's experienced team of construction lawyers specializes in the representation of developers, general contractors, design professionals, product manufacturers, and subcontractors in all areas of construction law.

Our lawyers assist construction industry clients with a variety of legal issues including contract drafting and negotiations, administrative law and insurance issues, as well as representing clients in litigation ranging from contract disputes to construction defect claims.

In the area of construction defect litigation, our aim is to develop ways to aggressively represent our clients in a cost-effective manner, including formatting and operating successful joint defense agreements. In fact, our firm was one of the first firms to successfully operate a joint defense agreement over a decade ago. Our lawyers have extensive experience in handling defect litigation involving single-family detached homes, common area developments and apartments, as well as matters involving commercial structures. We work closely with our clients to elicit their input and experience in defending these matters and coordinate defense strategies with the insurer in order to develop the most effective and efficient defense. The partners in our construction group have an uncommon depth of experience trying complex construction defect cases. Our group also has extensive experience in handling bodily injury and property damage mold claims. Our team also handles mechanic's liens and stop notice and payment/performance bond disputes.
